Your Junk Drawer

The Files app is basically your junk drawer for documents & data, except it's organized (lol) & connects to cloud services like Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive. This magical system lets OnSong pretend it can talk to literally any cloud storage out there, even the ones we're too lazy to build into the app ourselves.

Getting the Right Apps (Yes, You Gotta Do Work)

So here's the thing: to actually import or export to these services, you need to download apps that support iOS storage providers, or they just won't show up in the Files app. We could list every single app that works, but that sounds like a job, so we won't. But hey, here are some famous ones:

Grabbin' Files from Somewhere Else

Wanna pull songs from another cloud pit? Head to Songs Hamburger » All the Songs You Got & tap that + button to Shove More Songs In. Smack Files & boom—a window pops up with whatever cloud service your phone's got. iCloud Drive shows up first (how surprising). Wanna switch providers? Tap the lil' icon upper left. Need even MORE apps? Tap More & we'll show you which ones you've installed that actually work.

Pushin' Files Out Into the World

To export (aka get your stuff outta here), tap the Share Thingy from the top menu, then pick Export. Hit the folder icon in the bottom right & choose Files. Pick your file formats (exciting, we know), then tap Export in the upper right. OnSong opens the cloud stuff again. Pick a folder & you're done. Congrats, you're a power user now.

The Fine Print: Why This Sucks Sometimes

Yeah, there are some annoying limits.

  1. Once the Files window opens, each service works however that app decides it works. So importing & exporting are basically two completely different experiences. Fun!
  2. Depending on your iOS version, some services won't let you pick multiple files at once. So you're stuck choosing ONE file at a time to import, & if you export multiple files, they get smooshed into a ZIP. You're welcome.
  3. You can only use apps that actually support this nerdy storage extension thingy, AND you gotta have 'em installed. Revolutionary, right?
